ROMEK PUCHOWSKI is a vocalist, ‘DOBRO ‘ guitar virtuoso, master of the “ slide ” technique, improviser, freestyler, composer and lyricist. His stage-arsenal is completed by acoustic guitar, looper, bass and … the iPhone. He is a soloist, as well as leader and founder of the alternative band Von Zeit , and a member of international music projects. He effortlessly, harmoniously, combines tradition and modernity into colourful landscapes.

PUCHOWSKI grew up in a house that was full of live music. His older sisters attended music schools whilst he sang and played the piano. Then at fifteen, Romek discovered his love and fascination of the acoustic guitar and immersed himself in music. Edvard Grieg, punk, new wave, Polish protest songs, jazz, blues, avant garde, and the Residents were all part of the journey. Then PUCHOWSKI discovered Robert Johnson and Son House… and never looked back. He began to distill all his influences into a unique style, underpinned by his bright personality. PUCHOWSKI’S music is full of humour, yet reaches the darkest recesses of a human soul, and touches our sense of existence.

His solo concerts are positive affirmations. They present a wide range of sound, from subtle acoustics, full of finesse, to powerful guitar and vocal, trance-like sound walls. Reviewers have noted that he produces more energy on stage on his own, than any rock band: “ The Master has spoken! ”, “ Cosmos, a Phenomenon, Genius”, “ Puchowski is Power ”. These are just a few of the plaudits.

PUCHOWSKI has played at clubs and festivals all over Europe. He’s played a special concert for Members of the European Parliament in Brusseles, prestigious concerts in Rabat and Casablanca in the Kingdom of Morocco, and the area of Visegrad States.

The music of Von Zeit was presented on MTV and TVP stations, whilst tracks from his latest album ‘FREE ‘ have been played by major radio stations in Poland, including the ‘3 PR’ program, ‘Antyradio ‘, ‘Radio Gdańsk ‘, and ‘Radio Zachód’. His song “ Jurata ” is currently on the LIST OF THE TOP 10 OF ‘RADIO TRÓJKA’… the most important Polish hit list.

Romek Puchowski is active and creative. He’s been on the professional music scene for over 20 years, working with prominent personalities of the Polish scene – including Martyna Jakubowicz, Tymon Tymański, Adam Wendt, Grzegorz Grzyb, Keith Dunn (excellent harmonica), Nick Katzman (guitar virtuoso), and with harmonica legend Sugar Blue ( famous for working with the Rolling Stones and Frank Zappa. Romek also cooperates with many musicians of the European scene such as Henry Heggen, Michael Maass, Peter Krause.

PUCHOWSKI has also participated in the prestigious concert project called ‘Masters of the Guitar’, which presented the most outstanding Polish guitarists. He’s been a protagonist and teacher at this, the most important Polish guitar workshops. He’s also received the ‘Acoustic Guitarist of the Year’ title.

The debut album of his band Von Zeit was noticed by Newsweek and MTV, whilst their second, double album ‘We Wipe Out’ was recognized as one of the best rock albums 2008. The first solo album from Romek Puchowski, entitled ‘Simply’, received great reviews too. The album is considered one of the most important Polish blues albums. It was also the first album of blues music in Poland released by a label specializing in alternative music (Hip Records).

The new album from Romek Puchowski, ‘FREE’, was released in March 2013, and has received many excellent reviews.
